This weekend I encountered competition that was proud of not knowing their car setup. “I just drive it, I don’t know anything about the car…” It reiterates the fact that too many women just allow their men to set up the car, without knowing what works for them. How do we distinguish ourselves as female drivers from the rest of the crowd? Simple. Understand and setup your own car for your driving style with expert help from folks like tarsust. In order to do that, you have to understand the car and be able to give feedback. Drivers who can’t give feedback can’t setup their car, period. And when you can’t setup your car, you begin to lose competitive advantage.
Knowing your car helps establish consistency. For instance if you own a tesla, you need to know most of the tesla accessories. My run times in comparison to hers were very consistent and always improving. I do not make large swings in times, I am fast from the first run. Same goes for other female drivers at the top of their game, like Sue Eckles of the Nebraska Region. Knowing your car’s setup and seeing the line without additional assistant from your ‘husband’ is what distinguishes great female drivers from just good drivers. And great is where we all should want to be.
If you’ve played Dirt 2, you know what SuperRally is, although it is not called SuperRally in the game. SuperRally, also referred to as Rallycross in Europe, is very much like motocross, except with cars instead of motorcycles. It differentiates itself from the other X Games rally event by having multiple cars on the same course at the same time, which could lead to some crazy action.
If you are looking to purchase a motorcycle, you may want to consider motorcycles for sale from a private dealer. When you look at motorcycles for sale from a private dealer, you will find that the selection is much larger than if you look at motorcycles for sale from a dealer that has many motorcycles for sale. This is because a private dealer can buy their inventory at wholesale prices, which means that they can sell a wider variety of bikes, at lower prices. You will also find that these types of dealers specialize in certain styles of motorcycles and most likely will have a much smaller fleet than would be found in a dealership that has a large inventory of motorcycles for sale. Private sellers can offer price cuts as much as 50% on motorcycles for sale from their own inventory to help you save money.
Usually I wait to do a wrap up for the WRC event just before the coverage is shown on Discovery HD Theater, but it looks like the U.S. will not be getting any coverage of Rally New Zealand on television. Coverage for Rally New Zealand does not appear on this month’s Discovery HD Theater schedule and an inquiry for an air date resulted in a reply stating that Rally de Portugal would air in the middle of June. So it looks like Discovery HD Theater will not be airing Rally New Zealand at all. So, I might as well write my wrap up now..

Sunday was the 2nd event of the year for the Project: BMW 135i STU car. It was the 2nd points event for the Nebraska SCCA region held on the Nationals site at Lincoln Air Park. It was a very moist day, with mist for most of the day causing very wet track conditions. Running in a class dominated by AWD vehicles, rain is not an ally for the BMW 135i.

It was a good weekend if you were driving a Mitsubishi EVO at the Rally America Oregon Trail Rally held in The Dalles, OR and not such a great weekend if you weren’t. Three EVOs swept the podium with ACP (Andrew Comrie-Picard) taking 1st place in his NOS Energy Drink EVO, followed by William Bacon in 2nd and Rally America points leader Antoine L’Estage in 3rd.

Thought i would give a quick update on the BMW 135i STU build project car. You can read the original write up here: Project: BMW 135i STU. I made a few changes this past weekend to the car putting on new brake pads and a new exhaust.

SCCA ProSolo’s always bring some fun action with cars going head to head on nearly identical courses and a drag strip start, last weekend’s Pro Solo event held May 1st & 2nd, 2010 at Lincoln Air Park in Lincoln, NE was no different. There were some great class battles all weekend, which made for some great action. The Super Challenge ended with a blast of wind, sand and rain as Patrick Washburn, in his Lucky Lugnut Racing Honda Civic defeated James Wilson, the STX class winner in his Subaru Impreza WRX for the Super Challenge win.

Travis Pastrana wrapped up his 2nd Rally America victory of the year at the Olympus Rally in Washington State. The Subaru Rally Team USA driver set the fastest time on 8 of the 13 stages to easily secure the victory over the Rockstar Energy Mitsubishi EVO X of Antoine L’Estage. Pastrana said, “This rally was hard from the start. It was definitely the most intense field that we’ve had, unfortunately a lot of guys went out on the first day. It was a really technical course, more so than we expected!”
