2018 SCCA Solo National Championship week was an interesting one. Tuesday was WET and with nearly 1400 competitors the action went late into the evening and even into the next day. The rain made for some fun photos, I guess that makes up for how miserable it was to stand out there all day. And luckily, all of my equipment survived the day! I took a lot of photos, A LOT. Another September, another SCCA Solo National Championship week and more records broken. The turn out at 2017 SCCA TireRack Solo National Championships set yet another record, topping 1300 competitors. I myself set a new record taking over 20,000 photos between the National Championship and the ProSolo Finale. Photos from nearly every heat is available in the photo gallery. I did miss heats 4 and 5 on Thursday and Friday, due to competing in STU which ran heat 5.

2016 marked a new record for number of entries into the SCCA Tire Rack Solo National Championships, it also was a new record for the number of photos I took! Between the one day of the ProSolo Finale I shot and all four days of Solo Nationals competition I almost topped the 20,000 photo mark. There are almost 12,000 photos in the Solo Nationals gallery and over 4,000 in the ProSolo Finale gallery. The Nationals gallery is separated by classes, but I got a little lazy and the ProSolo gallery is just one big mass of photos.
If you have trouble finding a photo of your car please shoot me an email at photo@gotcone.com, there should be photos of nearly everyone outside of heat 5 from Tuesday and Wednesday as that was the heat I was running in STU.

The early registration period for SCCA Solo Nationals in Lincoln, NE ends tomorrow at noon. After that the late registration fee takes effect. However, if you haven’t registered yet, you might be out of luck as the cap of 1300 entrants (a new record number of entrants) has already been reached and a waiting list has begun. It’s hard to say if the cap will be raised to let a few more people in or not.

Yup it’s that time of year when some sort of formula determines how each SCCA Autocross will compare to another class. After a full year of stock class cars being on street tires there have been some changes that should make things more accurate. CSP, STF and SMF also had some rather large adjustments. Also of note is the addition of a new Street Touring class, STP.

It seems like every year Nationals sneaks up on me quicker than the previous year and this year was no exception. I felt the least prepared for Nationals this year than I ever have and my driving showed it, but we’ll get to that in a bit. My Nationals ‘week’ started early, it actually started the Tuesday before as I made my way out to Lincoln Air Park to help set up the fence that forms a perimeter between Nationals and the active air port. Setting up the fence is no small feat, as there is well over a mile of fence to set up and usually a relatively small group to do so. The 2015 version of the autocross index you love to hate is now out. The PAX/RTP index is used to compare SCCA event results across classes. This year all street tire and stock classes now require a minimum tread wear rating of 200 on all tires. Also gone are the race tire ‘stock’ classes. More…

Just over 100 competitors showed up at the now famous autocross concrete mecca in Lincoln, NE. With flat empty concrete as far as the eye can see Lincoln Air Park plays home to the largest racing event in the world, SCCA Solo National Championships.
